Frequently Asked Questions

Everything below reflects how DecoGnomes actually works today. If your question isn’t here, email team@decognomes.com and we’ll answer it.

The prints

Are the designs original?

Yes. Every DecoGnomes design was drawn for this shop as original geometry. They are not stock images, not public-domain reproductions, and you will not find them on the marketplaces.

How many designs are there?

Six — Rising Sun, Palm Court, Cascade, Ziggurat, Plume and Lattice — each available in three colourways, which makes eighteen prints in total.

What are the three colourways?

Black & Gold is gold linework on a near-black ground, and the most dramatic of the three. Emerald & Gold is the same gold on deep green, warmer and easier to live with at a large size. Terracotta & Cream is terracotta line on cream, the lightest of the three and the one for sunlit rooms.

Can I mix colourways on one wall?

Yes, and the collection is built for it. All three colourways are drawn from a single palette, so three prints from different colourways still read as a set rather than as three separate purchases. Two common approaches: three different designs in one colourway makes a gallery wall, and one design in all three colourways makes a triptych.

Sizes and framing

What sizes are available?

Five, in every design and every colourway:

Will the design be cropped at different sizes?

No. Every design is drawn at a 2:3 ratio and all five sizes are 2:3, so the composition is identical at every size. Nothing is cropped or stretched to fit.

Which size should I choose?

When hanging above furniture, a reliable rule is to pick artwork roughly two-thirds the width of the piece beneath it — so a narrow console wants a smaller print than a three-seat sofa. For a wall with nothing beneath it, go one size larger than instinct suggests; prints hung in isolation almost always look smaller on the wall than they did in your head. There is a size guide on every product page.

Do the prints come framed?

No. All prints are supplied unframed, so you can choose a frame that suits your room. Every size listed above is a standard frame size, so off-the-shelf frames will fit without a custom mount.

What paper is used?

A heavyweight matte archival stock, printed giclée. The matte finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, which is what keeps the fine gold linework readable from an angle rather than disappearing into glare.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Closely, but not exactly. Every screen is calibrated differently and renders colour under different room lighting, so a deep emerald on your monitor will not be a perfect match for the same green on paper. Printed colours are generally slightly deeper and less luminous than a backlit screen suggests.

Ordering and production

What does “made to order” mean?

Your print doesn’t exist until you buy it. Nothing is held in a warehouse — when your order comes in, that specific print is produced in that specific size and colourway, then sent to you. It’s why every size is available in every colourway without us carrying stock, and it’s also why the returns policy below works the way it does.

How long does production take?

Typically three business days before your order ships.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If production hasn’t started, yes — we can usually cancel and refund in full. Once a print has entered production it can’t be cancelled, because it has already been made specifically for you. Email team@decognomes.com as soon as you can and we’ll tell you where your order stands.

Shipping

Where do you ship?

Within the United States only at present. If you’re outside the US and want a print, email us before ordering and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.

How long does delivery take?

After the three days of production, delivery depends on the service chosen at checkout — Economy is typically 4–8 business days, Standard 2–5, and Priority 2–3. Full detail is on the shipping policy page.

What does shipping cost?

It’s calculated at checkout based on your address and the size of your order.

Returns and problems

Can I return a print if I change my mind?

No, and it’s worth being clear about why rather than burying it. Each print is produced specifically for your order and can’t be resold to anyone else, so we don’t offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind. This is standard for made-to-order goods. It’s also why the size guide and the colour note above matter — we’d rather you got the right size first time.

What if my print arrives damaged or misprinted?

That’s a different matter entirely and we’ll put it right. Contact us within 30 days of delivery with a photograph of the problem, and we’ll arrange a replacement at no cost to you, or a full refund if you’d prefer. You usually won’t need to send the damaged print back.

How do I get in touch about an order?

Email team@decognomes.com with your order number. If your question is about a print you haven’t bought yet, tell us the design, colourway and size you’re considering and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Caring for your print

How should I look after it?

Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight — archival inks resist fading far better than standard ones, but nothing survives a south-facing window indefinitely. Avoid damp rooms and sharp humidity swings, which can cause paper to ripple. Handle it by the edges when framing, and dust the surface gently with a clean, dry cloth if it needs it.
